Wakkanai Karafuto Museum

稚内市樺太記念館

Located in Hokkaido, the Wakkanai Karafuto Museum displays historical materials related to Karafuto Island, currently known as Sakhalin. The museum exhibits approximately 2,000 items, including records collected by the city and donations from the National Karafuto Federation. These materials provide information on the history of the island and the lives of its inhabitants from the Meiji period onward, specifically during the period between 1905 and 1945 when southern Karafuto was Japanese territory.
