Kaneda Shinsho Calligraphy Museum in Horonobe holds about 1,700 calligraphy works by local calligrapher Shinsho Kaneda, plus roughly 400 inkstones, brushes, and ceramics. Town materials say the museum opened on 20 May 1990 after construction began in fiscal Heisei 1, to honor Kaneda’s stature in Japanese calligraphy and to foster appreciation of the spirit and technique of writing in the northern climate.
