Miyajima Omotesando Street

Shinto shrines

宮島表参道商店街

Miyajima Omotesando Street is one of the approach paths to Itsukushima Shrine. Originally a main street from the Edo period, it was created by filling in land that was once sea. The area features traditional machiya architecture preserved since the Edo period alongside retro-modern shops and cafes. At night, the street becomes popular as lanterns are lit along the eaves of shops and houses.
