Izumo Tamatsukuri Museum in Tamayu presents ancient gem-working around Kasen-zan, once among Japan's foremost jadeite and hardstone production centers from Yayoi through Heian times. Official galleries show unfinished beads and whetstones from workshop sites on the first floor, while upstairs covers Izumo agate craft that revived late-Edo techniques learned from Wakasa and Fujina ware, an early Izumo kiln that also served the Matsue domain, with hours typically 9:00-17:00.
