Located in Nara Prefecture, Akabo Shrine is a Shinto shrine officially known as Bessha Shikinai Akabo Jinja. It served as the tutelary shrine for the Fujiwara clan during the Asuka period and was moved to its current location during the relocation of the capital to Heijo in 710. The site is associated with beliefs regarding protection during childbirth and the warding off of misfortunes.
