Okama Shrine

御釜神社

Okama Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Miyagi Prefecture and a subsidiary of Shiogamajinja. It enshrines the deity Shiotomo-omi, associated with traditional salt production at the nearby beach known as Hade-no-hama. The grounds house four iron cauldrons called Kamigama, which are counted among the Three Wonders of Japan. Matsuo Basho visited this site and recorded his visit in his work Narrow Road to Eternity.
