Rakusui-en

Gardens

楽水園

Rakusui-en is a pond-stroll Japanese garden in Hakata Ward near Hakata Station. Official pages place it on the former Sumiyoshi villa of Hakata merchant Shimozawa Zen’emon Chikamasa, later used as the Ryokan Rakusuiso before Fukuoka City opened the garden in 1995 and kept the name Rakusui from his art name. Visitors can see Hakata-bei style walls and the restored Rakusuian tearoom among seasonal plantings. Confirm open hours and event notices before a city-center garden stop.
