Hakata Machiya Folk Museum

「博多町家」ふるさと館

Located across from Kushida Shrine, the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum introduces the local lifestyle and culture of Hakata. The facility features a traditional townhouse from the Meiji era as its centerpiece. The exhibition building includes videos of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival, lectures on the Hakata dialect, and displays of historical customs using dolls. Demonstrations of traditional crafts are also performed at the site.
