Yoshida Shrine on Kaguraoka in Kyoto's Sakyo ward was founded in 859 as a guardian shrine of Heian-kyo and is revered for guidance, warding off misfortune, and good fortune. Official pages note the Important Cultural Property Daigen-gu that enshrines deities from across Japan and many smaller shrines, and describe the Setsubun festival held since the Muromachi period over three days around February 3, drawing about 500,000 visitors with street stalls, protective charms, and rites such as Tsuina.
