Located in Yamagata Prefecture, the Dewa Sanzan History Museum was established in 1915 as a treasury for the Dewa Sanzan Shrine. It was officially designated as a museum in 1952 and moved into its current building in 1970. The collection primarily consists of items from the Shugendo period, characterized by the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism.
