Yanmar Museum in Nagahama, Shiga (Sanwa-cho 6-50; TEL 0749-62-8887) is a reservation-priority challenge museum with the concept Let's try! Exciting future challenge. Hours are 10:00-17:30 (reception 9:45-16:30; last entry 16:45) on weekdays and weekends/holidays; closed Mondays (or the next weekday when Monday is a holiday) and over year-end/New Year. Individual weekday admission is 1,000 yen for adults and 600 yen for elementary/junior-high students (preschool free); holiday rates are 1,200 / 700 yen. It is about a 10-minute walk from JR Hokuriku Line Nagahama Station; holiday-rate days offer a free shuttle from the west exit.
