Nakayama Shuichi Memorial Museum in Nagaokakyo opened in 2002 on land and buildings donated by the family of Shuichi Nakayama, who devoted his life to clarifying the history of Nagaoka-kyo. City materials say the museum presents his career and excavation research at a glance and serves as a hub for local learning on a historic walking route from JR Nagaokakyo Station past Saigoku Kaido sites, shrines, castles, temples, and kofun.
