日米修交記念館

Located in Wakayama Prefecture, the Japan-U.S. Friendship Memorial Museum commemorates the first recorded contact between Japan and the United States. In 1791, two American merchant ships, the Lady Washington and the Grace, landed on Oshima island. The museum displays historical documents, photographs, and ship models related to this event, which occurred sixty-two years before the arrival of Perry's Black Ships.
