Himure Hachimangū

Shinto shrines

日牟禮八幡宮

Himure Hachimangu in Omihachiman is a central Hachiman shrine of the Omi region. Official pages explain that the presence of Hachiman worship here shaped the place-name Hachiman and later the city name Omihachiman. Landmarks such as Byobu-iwa and Kagami-ike behind the main hall convey a long local faith tradition also remembered in Noh. The March Sagicho Festival and April Hachiman Festival are among Shiga’s best-known fire rites and draw large crowds. Confirm prayer reception and festival schedules before visiting during peak celebration days.
