Hiraide Ruins in Shiojiri preserve a large settlement spanning the Jomon through Heian periods. Official museum pages note systematic excavation from 1950 and national historic-site designation in 1952, highlighting rich Kofun and Heian finds that help reconstruct daily life. Jomon middle-period houses number about 116 in peak layers, with later periods showing hearths, pottery, and glazed wares. Hands-on programs such as magatama making are offered at the museum and guidance building. Confirm experience bookings before you visit.
