Kagoshima Jingū in Kirishima’s Hayato area is linked on its official site to the myth of Umisachi and Yamasachi. Its deity Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto, also called Yamasachi-hiko, is described as an ancestral kami of Tsukushi who established Takachiho Palace here and, over a tradition of 580 years of life, taught farming, animal husbandry, and fishing. The Hatsuuma festival after the 18th day of the lunar first month draws about 100000 visitors. Prayer reception is 8:30–16:30, precinct hours 8:30–17:00, with free parking for 350 cars.
