Uenohara

上野原遺跡

Located in the eastern part of Kirishima City in Kagoshima Prefecture, this historic site sits on a plateau overlooking Kagoshima Bay and Sakurajima. The site contains evidence of various settlements and activities dating back to the Jomon period, including large residential clusters and areas used for rituals and hunting. It provides insight into early settlement patterns and diverse cultural developments in the southern Kyushu region.
