Yamatane Museum of Art

山種美術館

Yamatane Museum of Art opened in 1966 as Japan’s first museum dedicated to nihonga and marked its 60th anniversary on 7 July 2026. Official about pages credit founders Taneji and Tomiji Yamazaki for collecting modern-to-contemporary Japanese-style paintings, note roughly 1,800 works including six Important Cultural Properties and fourteen Important Art Objects, and describe five to six themed exhibitions each year.
