Sakata Municipal Historical Museum

Sakata Municipal Historical Museum opened in Showa 53 (1978) to collect and present archaeological, historical, and folk materials, including exhibits on the Jorin-saku site, Sakata merchants, the Boshin War, and the Sakata fire. The official city page states that the museum closed on Saturday, September 30, 2023 (Reiwa 5), to prepare for the Sakata City Cultural Museum Hikoga Bunko, which continues its functions. It is not open for regular visits after the 2023 closure; check city pages for the successor facility.
