Kōzan Bunko opened in October 1994 to preserve and use tanka and haiku materials donated by haiku poet Kyōichirō Satomi and to promote local culture. Satomi chose the name Kōzan from a letter in which Yosa Buson referred to Mount Ōe as “Kōzan.”
