Located in Iwate Prefecture, the Cultural Assets Repository, Mōtsū-ji serves as a museum for the temple grounds. The site is recognized as both a Special Historic Site and a Special Scenic Spot by the national government. Visitors to the temple grounds can experience a Pure Land garden said to represent the Buddhist world on earth and explore historical sites that evoke the area's past glory.
