Chinju Hikawa Shrine

鎮守氷川神社

Located in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture, Chinju Hikawa Shrine is known as a small grand shrine with over 700 years of history. The shrine enshrines Susanoo-no-Mikoto, a deity associated with the myth of defeating Yamata no Orochi and believed to possess power to ward off evil and misfortune. It also enshrines Kushinadahimee, who is associated with fertility and matchmaking. The site is visited by many people for various prayers including safe childbirth and protection from calamities.
