京都水族館

Kyoto Aquarium sits beside Umekoji Kyoto-Nishi Station. Its largest tank, Kyoto Sea, holds about 50 species such as tilefish, rays, and sharks. Other zones include South American fur seals, spotted seals in a tube tank, a satoyama area with rice paddies, and a Kyoto River display with the Japanese giant salamander, a Special Natural Monument, along a Yura River recreation. Upper floors add Cape penguins, about 30 jellyfish species with the GURURI panorama tank, and a dolphin stadium for bottlenose dolphins overlooking the old capital.
