Yamaga City Museum opened on 1 April 1978 as the prefecture's second museum, a compact two-story hall of about 681 square meters. Official pages emphasize archaeology, history, and folklore from the Kikuchi River basin around Yamaga, including nationally important Houda Higashibaru finds such as rare stone-knife-shaped iron tools and tomoe-shaped bronze fittings, set within Higo Ancient Forest historic park with a walking route to decorated Chibusan and Obusan kofun, hours 9:00-16:30.
