皇居外苑

Kōkyogaien in central Tokyo is described by the Ministry of the Environment as a nationally representative park where black-pine lawns, Edo Castle moats, gates, and other historic structures harmonize. Wadakura Fountain Park, completed for the present Emperor's wedding, adds rich water and greenery. The Kitanomaru forest park on the former Imperial Guard grounds connects with the East Gardens so visitors can walk the outer gardens as one continuous park. The agency also protects moat biodiversity through water-quality improvement.
