Chūbu-Sangaku National Park covers about 174323 hectares across Niigata, Toyama, Nagano, and Gifu prefectures and was designated on 4 December 1934 as one of Japan’s first national parks. Ministry of the Environment pages describe it as a representative North Alps mountain park with 3000 m-class ranges such as the Ushirotateyama, Tateyama, Hotaka, and Norikura mountains, alpine flora, ptarmigan habitat, snowfields, and volcanic landforms. There is no single gate admission; access depends on trails, cableways, and local facilities. For park administration contact the Shinetsu Regional Environment Office at Asahi-cho 1108, Nagano City (postal code 380-0846; telephone 026-231-6570). Confirm weather, trail closures, and mountain rules before travel.
