Former Kaichi School at Kaichi 2-4-12, Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture (postal code 390-0876; telephone 0263-32-5725) is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property school building open as a museum. Official visitor pages list hours from 9:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:30. Window tickets are 700 yen for high-school students and older and 300 yen for elementary and junior-high students, or 540 yen and 270 yen for groups of 20 or more. Closed on the third Tuesday from March through November, on Tuesdays from December through February (the following day when those days are holidays), and from 29 December to 3 January. Path renovation works from 6 July 2026 through mid-September 2026 restrict parts of the grounds while indoor viewing continues. Confirm construction updates before travel.
