高取城

Takatori Castle is one of Japan’s three major mountaintop castles, set on 583.6-meter Takatori-yama with about 3 km of inner works and a 390-meter rise from the foot to the keep base. Official town tourism pages say stone walls remain in the honmaru and ninomaru, and the site became a national historic site in 1953 and a Top 100 Castle in 2006. From Kintetsu Tsubosakayama Station it is about a two-hour walk. Confirm trail conditions before you visit.
