Ōmori Katsuyama Site

Historic sites

大森勝山遺跡

Ōmori Katsuyama Site is a late Jomon stone-circle landscape about 3000 years old in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, designated a national historic site on 2012-09-19 and inscribed in the Hokkaido and Northern Tohoku Jomon Prehistoric Sites World Heritage in 2021-07. The outdoor site is temporarily closed: a city notice states that after a bear was confirmed inside the grounds around 16:50 on 2026-06-24, the city closed the site for visitor safety and is still considering when to lift the closure. The nearby free guidance facility Omori-n (Susono district sports and cultural exchange center; telephone 0172-82-1642) lists open hours from 9:00 to 16:00 and closed Mondays plus year-end. Confirm whether the outdoor site remains closed before travel.
