Located in the Nishiyama area of Kyoto, Ōharano Shrine is a Shinto shrine associated with Murasaki Shikibu. The site served as a guardian for the capital during the relocation to Nagaoke-kyo in 784. It enshrines a division of the deity from Nara Kasuga Taisha. The grounds are noted for their natural beauty and are recognized as a spot for autumn leaves.
