Mogami Tokunai Memorial Museum in Murayama presents surveying tools, northern maps, and a replica of the pillar he erected on Etorofu to pass on his northern exploration achievements. Official pages say Tokunai was born in Tateoka in 1755 and highlight his late-Edo expeditions—including first Japanese landfall on Urup (1786) and the 1798 Etorofu pillar with Kondo Juzo—plus an on-site Ainu-style chise house with clothing and daily tools.
