Located in Tokyo, Yasukuni Shrine was originally established as Chokon-sha in 1869 and renamed to its current name in 1879. The shrine displays historical materials including wills and letters from those who died for their country. It also houses a collection of approximately 130,000 books and documents related to the shrine and modern Japanese history.
