Wajū no Sato

輪中の郷

Located in Nagashima, a narrow island surrounded by the Kiso Three Rivers in Mie Prefecture, Wajū no Sato is a museum showcasing local life and historical adaptations to flood risks. The facility exhibits how residents protected their lives and property from floods, including the construction of Mizuya buildings for storing food at high elevations and the formation of community organizations to maintain levees. It also features sections on Nagashima history, such as the Nagashima Ikko Ikki and the Ise Bay Typhoon.
