弥治郎こけし村

Yajirō Kokeshi Village is a production area for Miyagi traditional kokeshi of the Yajiro lineage, designated a national traditional craft in 1981. The main building has a kokeshi exhibition and reference room on the first floor and an open gallery with seasonal displays, while the second floor sells works by Yajiro-line and local new-style artisans, wooden toys, and light meals, and offers kokeshi painting experiences. Courtyard workshops are open for viewing as artisans work. A nearby kokeshi shrine enshrines Prince Koretaka, and kokeshi ema can be bought at the shop. Access is about 15–20 minutes by car from Shiroishi stations or the Shiroishi IC. Hours are 9:00–17:00 from April to October and 9:00–16:00 from November to March, with weekly Wednesday closures and year-end holidays.
