Mashimo Hisen Reference Room in Fukuchiyama's Oe district introduces Mashimo Hisen (born 1878), a Kyoto teacher and poet whose lyrical narrative song Senyu, published in September 1905 during the Russo-Japanese War with music by Miyoshi Wake, became a nationwide hit. Official city pages place the room on the second floor of Oe Station, open 9:00-17:00 daily, and outline his Kyoto Normal School education, Myojo-school tanka ties, and later city-assembly service before his death in 1926.
