Sugawara Shrine

Sugawara Shrine is the ujigami shrine of Kokura Funai in Kitakyushu, known locally as Kokura Tenjin. Official pages state that the shrine enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, and that its founding goes back about 1100 years to the Heian period.
