Located in Ibaraki City, the Ibaraki Municipal Kawabata Literature Hall was opened in May 1985 to honor the achievements of Yasunari Kawabata, who became the first Japanese recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1968. The museum serves as a center for people to engage with his literary works and houses approximately 400 items related to him, including books, personal belongings, letters, manuscripts, calligraphy, models, photographs, and first editions.
