Ibaraki Gokoku Shrine stands on Sakurayama in Mito and was founded at its present site in November 1941. Official pages state that it enshrines 63496 spirits of Ibaraki-born war dead from the late Tokugawa period through the Asia-Pacific War, after earlier origins as Chinreisha on the grounds of Tokiwa Shrine. The shrine office is at Migawa 1-2-1 in Mito, telephone 029-241-4781. Visitors come for memorial rites and peace prayers on the landscaped hill beside Kairakuen. Confirm festival dates, ofuda hours, and parking before travel.
