Noboribetsu City Historical Museum reopened on 1 April 2026 after a full renewal of lighting, interiors, and exhibits. City materials say displays cover old daily tools, natural-history specimens such as Todomatsu charcoalized by the Kuttara volcano eruption, materials on the Katakura retainers who migrated from the Sendai domain after Meiji 2, and Ainu culture. The museum also runs craft workshops with volunteer instructors.
