Ena Shrine

恵那神社

Ena Shrine stands at the foot of Mount Ena in Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, where legend says the afterbirth of Amaterasu was enshrined. The official site lists blessings for safe childbirth, fertility, first shrine visits, and household safety, and notes that all of former Kiso County in Shinano were once parishioners. During Minamoto no Yoshinaka's uprising he offered a treasured sword inscribed Tei Tsuna, now a shrine treasure. The inner main shrine is on the Mount Ena summit and the front main shrine is in Nakatsugawa; the office is in Ebisu-cho with telephone 0573-65-3557.
