Kinosaki Straw Craft Museum introduces Kinosaki mugiwara-zaiku, decorative straw work on paulownia boxes and colored paper made from barley straw. Tourism association materials say the craft has about 300 years of history and is designated a traditional craft of Hyogo Prefecture and an intangible cultural property of Toyooka City. They also note that German physician Philipp Franz von Siebold took many related materials back to Europe in the late Edo period, now known as the Siebold Collection.
