Wake Shrine

和気神社

Located in Okayama Prefecture, Wake Shrine is the birthplace of Wake no Kiyomaro. The shrine enshrines the founder of the Wake clan along with Wake no Kiyomaro and Wake no Hirobumehime. The grounds feature rare boar statues in front of the worship hall, which are associated with the protection of the deity. The buildings were constructed in the early Meiji period and are designated cultural properties.
