Yasaka Shrine in Kokura, Kitakyushu—also called Kokura Gion Yasaka Shrine—has more than four hundred years of history. Official pages say Hosokawa Tadaoki founded it in 1617 as the general guardian shrine of Buzen, and it is known for the drum-centered Kokura Gion festival.
