Michinoku Folklore Village

Michinoku Folklore Village in Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture, is a major northeastern open-air museum that relocated and restored thatched farmhouses from the Kitakami River basin and surrounding areas. On a hillside site of about seven hectares, ten thatched houses and 18 other buildings, 28 structures in total, stand scattered across the grounds, including the former Kurozawa Higher Girls School building with folk materials on display.
