Suizen-ji Jōju-en

水前寺成趣園

Suizen-ji Jōju-en is a strolling-style garden in Kumamoto City that dates back to the early Edo period. Established by Hosokawa Tadatoshi, the garden features landscapes inspired by Mount Fuji and the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido. The grounds are characterized by its abundant spring water and include a pond as its center. The site also houses a Noh theater and Izumi Shrine, which honors successive lords of the Kumamoto Domain.
