Shiokari Pass Museum

塩狩峠記念館

Shiokari Pass Museum in Wassamu restores the former home of novelist Ayako Miura and displays materials related to her novel and film Shiokari Pass, as well as the room where she wrote Hyoten. Town materials note seasonal opening from April through November, with a special opening on 28 February—the date Masao Nagano, the model for the story, sacrificed himself to stop runaway train cars and save passengers.
