久能山東照宮社殿

This National Treasure in Shizuoka Prefecture was constructed in 1617 as a mausoleum for Tokugawa Ieyasu. The complex features a multi-building structure known as Gongen-zukuri, which connects the main hall and worship hall through a low-floor passage. It is recognized as an early representative of Edo period architecture, featuring elaborate carvings and colorful lacquer finishes that influenced subsequent shrine designs across Japan.
