Joyo City Historical and Folklore Museum, nicknamed Gorogori-kan, presents a chronological permanent gallery from the Paleolithic to the modern era. City materials highlight full-scale replicas such as a Kurumazuka tumulus stone coffin and models of burial facilities, plus excavated grave goods from local kofun. The nickname refers to Joyo’s position roughly five ri from both Heijo-kyo and Heian-kyo.
