Sumiyoshi Taisha

Sumiyoshi Taisha in Osaka is the head shrine of Sumiyoshi worship and has long been associated with sea travel, poetry, and protection. Its four main sanctuaries, rebuilt in 1810 in the ancient Sumiyoshi-zukuri style, are designated National Treasures. The precinct is also known for the steeply arched Sorihashi Bridge and old camphor trees that reinforce the shrine’s distinctive landscape.
