Located in Naha, Shikinaen Royal Garden was the largest secondary residence of the Ryukyu royal family. Built in 1799, it served as a place for the royal family's rest and for receiving foreign envoys. The garden features a strolling-style layout centered around a pond shaped like the character for heart. It incorporates unique Ryukyuan elements such as limestone walls and Chinese-style pavilions on islands within the pond.
